At Misfits Dog Training, we believe lasting results come from an ethical, open-minded approach. Every dog is different — and we meet them where they are, building progress through patience, honesty, and consistency.
We help dogs reach their full potential through a balanced training method that starts with motivation and clear communication. Our approach includes both positive and negative reinforcement, tailored to each dog’s needs. Once the basics are solid, we use tools like slip leads, prong collars, and e-collars to help generalize behaviors across different environments — making life with your dog easier and more enjoyable.
Zoe originally became interested in dog training when she was hired as a dog trainer at Petco right out of high school. While her passion for dogs grew stronger she also learned a basic understanding of how to teach manners to dogs. From there Zoe became active in the rescue community, taking in foster dogs in need of training and volunteering for transports to get animals out of high-kill shelters. Her first dog Scully was also teaching her a lot at the time. While Scully’s obedience was great she was highly reactive to people and other dogs, which led her to seek more knowledge and eventually realize that training was her passion.
Zoe attended Starmark Academy where she learned how to teach basic and advanced obedience, behavior modification, advanced pet CPR and canine first aid, agility, scent detection and personal protection. With all of the knowledge she could need to start her career Zoe was immediately hired on by one of the highest rated dog training companies in Denver. While working as a full-time private trainer Zoe continued to work in rescue and take on rehabilitation cases, dogs that showed signs of aggression and would likely be put down without intensive training.
Her heart still lies in rescue work and she loves being able to help owners make the best of their lives with their canine companions. Misfits Dog Training was started to help those dogs that may be deemed “un-trainable”, but to also support puppies and dogs that just need a little help being the best pet dogs they can be.
